1 Education
Rade Živaljević was born on October 12, 1954 in Sarajevo. His Master's thesis (M.Sci) and Ph.D. degree thesis were defended at Belgrade University in 1979 and 1983 respectively. A second Ph.D. degree thesis was defended at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1985. He has been a member of the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) since 1977, where he was appointed as a full research professor in 1995.

2.3 National and International Projects
R. Živaljević is (together with Vladimir Dragović) the founder of the center "Dynamical Systems, Geometry and Combinatorics" as a research unit (center of excellence) within the Mathematical Institute SASA. The center coordinates international cooperation with groups at Steklov Institute Moscow, SISSA–ISAS Trieste, TU Berlin, DIMATIA Prague, and several regional groups.
R. Živaljević was co-coordinator (with Petar Pavešić, University of Ljubljana) of the Serbia–Slovenia bilateral project "Applied and Computational Algebraic Topology" (2016–2017).

3 Research
3.1 Research Interests
Rade Živaljević is the author of more than 80 research papers and numerous review and expository publications. Papers have appeared in highly ranked international journals including Advances in Mathematics, Mathematische Annalen, J. Reine Angew. Math., Trans. Amer. Math. Soc., J. London Math. Soc., and Combinatorica. His main areas are topological and geometric combinatorics, discrete and computational geometry, and applied algebraic topology.
